Support Software Developer – Payment Switch (HPE NonStop)

Working from our Nun’s Island office and reporting to the Development Director, the Support Developer participates in 24-hour support of the production application as part of a rotating team. This includes solving technical problems, maintaining and improving the existing application, as well as the analysis, design and development of enhancements and new payment applications as/if time permits.

In your role you will be responsible for :

 

Support

 

  • Part of a on call rotation after hours production support;
  • Follow incident management procedure in place;
  • Correct production problems in order to resume processing in a timely manner;
  • Identify technical problems & make the appropriate corrections;

 

Development

 

  • Developing Emergency code fixes;
  • Analyze and design ways to improve the reliability of the application and reduce outages;
  • Create, build, automate and improve the monitoring process and procedures;
  • Write & integrate new programs while following the Team Lead and Development Director’s specifications & architecture;
  • Participate in solutions architecture with the Team Lead, Development Director, and the VP of Technology;
  • Handle the code delivery to the Team Lead or Development Director for validation;

 

Testing

 

  • Write and execute unit tests & verify the results;
  • Implement changes in a controlled manned to QA, Staging, User acceptance, Production and Disaster Recovery Systems.

 

Essential Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3 years in support software development with a broad knowledge of emerging technologies;
  • Very good Knowledge – HPE NonStop (Tandem) Programming technology (Mandatory);
  • Very Good Knowledge – C language (mandatory);
  • Very good Knowledge – TACL scripting Language (Mandatory);
  • Good Knowledge – COBOL Language (asset);
  • Knowledge – Payment Industry, POS, EMV (asset);
  • Knowledge – Interac, Visa, MC, Amex, Discover specifications (asset);
  • Knowledge – PCI Data Security Standards (asset);
  • Knowledge – Secure Coding practices (asset);
  • Knowledge – OSS/Unix/Linux (asset);
  • Knowledge – DevOps, CI/CD (asset);
  • Bilingual – French/English;

 

Preferred Qualifications, Education or Certifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline required.
