Technical Lead Payment Switch

Working from our Nun’s Island office and reporting to the Vice-President of Technology, the Technical Lead – Payment Switch is responsible for the overall project and people management, of a team of HPE NonStop Developers and Support Developers.

Projects are technical in nature, and the position centers around the management of new or modified payment solutions, in addition to maintenance support of the custom PayFacto POS Payment Switch.

In your role you will be responsible for :

 

Project management and planning

 

  • Accountable for the successful delivery (time and budget) of all projects the team is engaged in;
  • Be an active, engaged partner in collaborating with our other development teams, architects and project managers;
  • Manage project scope, quality and time constraints within an environment where priorities & scope can frequently change;
  • Remove roadblocks for the team and escalate critical or blocking issues when necessary and drive them to closure;
  • Identify and manage project risks to mitigate or minimize impact to project objectives;
  • Ensure the team follow incident management procedures in place;
  • Overall project management – resource scheduling, management of milestones and deliverables, change management;

 

Leadership

  • Schedule the team to provide production support during core business hours; and after hours “pager duty”;
  • Manage resources and workload within the team;
  • Use creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills to resolve any conflicts or challenges;

 

Provide expertise and radiate knowledge

 

  • Communicate complex technical solutions in clear, concise;
  • Ensure solutions correspond to the PayFacto specifications as well as operating rules and regulations specified by the various payment networks (i.e. Interac, MasterCard, Visa, EMVCO, PCI etc.);
  • Communicate milestones and updates to management and stakeholders by maintaining and updating project plans and status reports;

 

Essential Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Natural leader with strong communication, organizational and time management skills;
  • Experience with Agile / Scrum;
  • Project Management qualification is desirable;
  • Strong technical background in order to be able to challenge developers;
  • Knowledge of SDLC’s such as agile, iterative, waterfall;
  • Knowledge of PCI Data Security Standard concepts (asset);
  • Payment host, networking concepts, e-commerce (asset);
  • Working knowledge of HPE NonStop is an asset (asset);
  • Familiar with continuous integration concepts (asset);
  • Familiar with source control system concepts (asset);
  • Bilingual (French / English);

 

Preferred Qualifications, Education or Certifications:

  • BAC in IT, Software Engineering, or equivalent;
  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in IT / software development;
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in a team management role.
